Deuteronomy 6.5,6
"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart."
Dear Friend in Christ, the Scriptures says we should "love God with all our heart, soul and strength." Many fear God out of fear of His wrath, judgment, this is not our LORD expects from His children. This type of attitude makes us ritualistic, ultimately we will turn out to be religious, and self-righteous; may get appreciation from people but LORD is not pleased.
LORD is looking for His people to love Him, have reverence for Him out of love, not fear. "His mercy is everlasting"(Psa100.5), Eph2.4, "God is rich in mercy." We fear Him and not love Him because we do not know Him. We can know Him only when we meditate on His Word. That's why He commands us, "These words which I command you today shall be in your heart."(Deu6.6) Treasure His Word in your heart and not in your mind. Head knowledge of the Word makes you religious but knowledge of the Word in heart makes you person of faith and transforms you as spiritual. Religious, who have Word in mind, not in heart, will be foolish for Rom1.21 says, "Because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened." Once your heart is darkened, you will be disconnected from the LORD, surely you will be a prey to deception from Satan, will be his slave. Friend, fear God, out of love for Him, worship God, out of love for Him, serve God out of love for Him. You will love Him provided you know who He is and what He has done for you. "He has created you wonderfully and fearfully in His own image; He has sacrificed His own Son to redeem you, adopted you as son, made you His heir, accepted you as a member of His household, filled you with every spiritual blessing, given you His own Spirit to help you....." "KNOW that you are His child, you are His son and He is your Father." When you know this TRUTH you will surely be excited and your love for Him will spring forth, and you will love Him with all your heart, soul and strength. Because you love Him, you will delight in His Word, believe Him and His Word, without doubt, observe His Word, follow Him every moment of your life and thereby as written in Jos1.8, "you will make your way prosperous and will have good success."
REJOICE AND DELIGHT IN THE LORD AND HIS WORD AND ENJOY THE GOODNESS OF YOUR FATHER ALWAYS
