John 16.12
"I still have many things to say to you, but you can not bear them now"
Dear Friend in Christ, Lord Jesus was speaking to His disciples about the Holy Spirit and making this statement that He has many things to tell but expresses that disciples cannot understand them then. Why? Further, He says, "When the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth" (Jn16.13) Jesus is confirming that without the Holy Spirit we can't understand the mysteries of the Scriptures. When Jesus was in the flesh, Holy Spirit was not released and therefore in spite of seeing the wonders, miracles, supernatural things done by Jesus, there was no conviction with His disciples. After the death of Christ, same disciples who were with Jesus personally experienced supernatural power of Him, but started doubting and questioning and finally decided to go back to fishing!! My dear friend, without the Holy Spirit, we can't know Jesus and we can't believe in the Word of God. "When Holy Spirit has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment of sin, because they don't believe in Jesus."(Jn16.8,9) Without the Holy Spirit, there is no conviction and without the conviction, there is no change, though the believer may have knowledge of the Word. The Bible will be like story book, get excited while reading but no change!
As a believer, we should hunger and thirst to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Lk 11.13.. "How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" Today ask the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit and grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and get matured by the revelation of the Word of God.
Acts 1.8, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Has come upon you, and you shall be witness to Me...." Without the Holy Spirit, we can't have power, can't know Jesus and can't be a witness to Christ.
You might have experienced power, miracles from Jesus but this experience will not bring transformation in you unless you are filled with the Holy Spirit. The same Peter, who went back to fishing, once he was filled with the Holy Spirit, preached boldly Jesus Christ. When you read Book of Acts, you will realize the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Do not ignore the Holy Spirit, love Him, long for Him and enjoy Him. "Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit" (Zech4.6)
